Members of Club de Damas Latinas (Latin American Women’s Club) in the Philippines gathered for their monthly luncheon recently at the residence of Margarita Álvarez de Félix in Makati to launch the theme of the 2014 Annual Latin Charity Ball—the group’s annual fundraiser to be held May 10 at Fairmont Makati.
Beatriz Rada de Marrero, current president and lead organizer of this year’s charity ball discussed its theme, Fire Up Your Heart, with members and Sr. Luz Maria Buitrago, TC, superior and director of Holy Family Home, and Sor Adriana Yepes, CCJM, director of Eugenia Maria Ravasco Day Care Center—representatives of the club’s two main beneficiary institutions.
The charity ball’s theme represents the energy of Latin culture and its passion to help and make a positive difference in the lives of the poor. It is also a continuing call to action for others—friends and supporters of the club, to get involved and help, said Marrero.
The Annual Latin Charity Ball has been held for the past 47 years. More than 300 diplomats, dignitaries, expats, executives of multinational companies and other special guests grace the event.
Among the main sponsors this year are Coca-Cola Femsa, Coca-Cola System in the Philippines, Mapfre Insular Corp. and Qatar Airlines.
