MAJOLICA Majorca “The Little Humming Book” makeup palettes for face, eyes and lips

The beauty of Filipino women is very diverse, and we don’t have a definite look. Some of us are almond-eyed chinita, while others are dusky morena or fair-skinned mestiza.

One makeup technique may look really well on one girl but not on the other. So it only makes sense that there are different makeup techniques for each look.

JANNA Diño

Luckily, there are makeup brands out there that are especially made for Asian skin. So whether you’re a chinita, mestiza or morena, you’ll be able to accentuate your features; the key is all in the technique.

We explored SM Stores beauty department’s range of makeup lines and we found some pieces we highly recommend—and the looks to go with them.

‘Morena’

If you’re a morena, you’re very lucky! You’ve got that year-round tan already. All you need to do is enhance your look by putting on the right colors.

Gold, orange and bronze hues work perfectly for you. Brows can make or break a look, so keep them well groomed with Majolica Majorca’s Brow and Lash Colorist. Eyeshadows that are gold- or orange-based are best for bringing out that natural glow.

On Janna Diño, we used Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes eyeshadow palette in BR792. For the lip color, you can never go wrong with a shimmery nude, or try something with a hint of color like Shiseido’s Lacquer Rouge in RD413, a deep coral.

‘Chinita’

SHISEIDO Face Color Enhancing Trio. The three shade in each compact can be blended together or used individually to add a healthy color to the cheeks, to contour and highlight.

Chinita are blessed with beautiful skin that need minimal foundation. For the eyes, try not to contour your crease. Instead, color the entire

lid with a neutral shade and put on a sweep of eyeliner.

Extend the line a little past your lash line to enhance your eyes. Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

Usually, chinita have round faces, so apply the bronzer in a half-moon sweeping motion starting from the temples to right under the cheekbones. Shiseido has tricolor blush-ons, like the Face Enhancing Trio, that work as blush and bronzers at the same time.

And to really get that summer vibe going, try a hot pink shade like Shisheido’s Lacquer Rouge in VI418. The combination of chinita eyes and pop-colored lips is great for this season.

‘Mestiza’

MAJOLICA Majorca Rouge Majex highly pigmented lipgloss

For mestiza, there’s a wider range of colors and looks to experiment with. Start off with a beautiful clean canvas with Shisheido’s Sheer and Perfect Foundation. The coverage is just right and feels light on the skin, perfect for summer.

Next, to accentuate the eyes, on Giada Gardini we kept it fresh and light by using peach and brown eyeshadow and just focusing more on the lashes to make the eyes pop. We used Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara on both the top and bottom lashes. You’d be surprised what a little mascara can do.

And for the lips, a little more color to complement one’s fair skin would be perfect. Try peach, bright pink or even red tones. And don’t forget to top it off with some lipgloss, like Majolica Majorca’s Rouge Majex in RD311.

With makeup, there’s really no right or wrong. It’s all about knowing what your best features are and how to enhance them.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different shades and colors. There are guidelines on what looks good on you, but the way you apply and present yourself is all up to you.

Makeup is like fashion, a form of self-expression. So just be you!
