MANILA, Philippines—Hate her or loathe her, you do love to make fun of her.

 

In a time when gowns could gain as much attention as the State of the Nation Address, Senator Nancy Binay was the darling of the Senate hall, and the congressional red carpet.

 

Just before going to the House of Representatives for the fifth Sona of President Benigno Aquino III, Binay was in the Senate wearing a gown which was a cross between a Filipiniana and the Korean Hanbok.

 

From Jewel in the Palace to any other Korean television series, and to a character just downright fictional, Pokemon’s Bellossom, Binay was the darling with her yellow-blue-green long skirt and an immaculate white long sleeved top.

 

In all fairness to Binay, Bellossom is the third-level evolution of Oddish.

 

And for the main attraction, the Sona itself, Binay was next spotted in an ultra-traditional white Filipiniana with shoulder fins.
