Philippine Daily Inquirer / 08:00 AM August 25, 2014
ManilArt fair will kick off its sixth installment with the art caravan, “Salpung,” Aug. 29-31, at Mariyah Gallery in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. Theme of this year’s art caravan is “Crossing Borders, Bridging Cultures.”
“Salpung” is a Visayan word that means “to go over” or “cross over.” Artistry in cross-cultural interaction is explored by “Salpung” as it welcomes Egyptian artist Ibrahim Ghazala, who is the editor of Alkhaya Art Magazine, director of Luxor International Art Studios and general commissar of Luxor International Symposium for Painting.
Once again, ManilArt has lined up exciting activities for the public leading up to the art fair. Details about a series of lectures and satellite exhibitions that feature the works of local and foreign artists will be announced soon.
Mariyah Gallery is at Larena Drive, Bogo Junction, Dumaguete City, 6200 Negros Oriental.
