No matter how aesthetics evolves, visual artist Jayson Cortez believes that society always returns to the universal icons of beauty—nature and the female form. “Beauty for me has always been about women and nature,” he said.

Hence, in his third solo exhibition, “Conspiracy of Beauty,” Cortez tackles the makings of attractiveness by glorifying the female form, as well as flora and fauna.

Cortez’s works are characterized by photorealism and surrealism.

He has shown mastery in the handling various materials such as oil, graphite, charcoal and mixed media.

In his works he shows that while concepts of beauty may be universal, the elements that constitute it are infinitely diverse.

Cortez was a Luzon finalist in the Philippine Art Awards 2014. He is a graduate of the Bulacan State University.

“Conspiracy of Beauty” will be launched at the ArtistSpace of the Ayala Museum on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Exhibition will run until Nov. 4. Call tel. 02-7598288 or e-mail [email protected].
