For the first time and for one night only, the best of European fashion takes center stage as popular Spanish brands Sfera, Suiteblanco and Uno de 50 debut their fall-winter collections on the Philippine Fashion Week (PFW) runway at the SMX Convention Center on Oct. 24 at 9 p.m.
This comes as the local fashion scene becomes more vibrant with the entry of more global brands.
Partnership with SM
All three Spanish brands have come to Manila in partnership with SM Retail; their participation in Philippine Fashion Week will give Manila’s stylish set the rare opportunity to view their latest collection, which are also on the racks of their stores worldwide.
“The arrival of Sfera, Suiteblanco and Uno de 50 in the Philippines [adds to the] ‘think global, act local’ attitude,” says Philippine Fashion Week executive producer/director Joey Espino. “Having imported quality goods available to the market at very affordable prices will keep Filipinos updated with the rest of the world.”
He adds, “These Spanish brands present up-to-date fashion trends that are globally attuned, and Uno de 50’s accessories are masterfully designed and crafted. All products signify
excellence in its own Spanish way. We are very happy to have them at Philippine Fashion Week. ”
The role of color
Sfera, which is owned by The El Corte Ingles Group, Spain’s largest department store chain, recently opened its first store in Asia at SM Makati.
The Sfera fall/winter collection is the right mix of style and grace with a combination of key looks from the women’s and casual collection, as well as its men’s Line.
Color plays a big role in the collection, with key palettes highlighted by print and textiles.
Khaki pays tribute to spring with butterfly prints; green is a throwback to the 1960s; red portrays your inner strength with a combination of speckled black and a touch of red; and bright blues accentuate black and white.
The star of the collection is gray, featuring a more formal look using knitted fabrics, bulky wools and tight skirts.
Trendy pieces
Suiteblanco will showcase its prize-winning, trendy key pieces—Rock N’ Roll Denim; Safari Standout that highlights animal prints; the timeless Black & White Binary; and East-Meets-West Eclecticism, a rigmarole of festive prints and aboriginal styles.
Uno de 50’s pieces are all about Connection, the environment’s influence on human beings.
The collection amazes with new daring designs with flashes of Swarovski crystals, as well as a miof leather and especially shaped metals.
The best part is that these are all handcrafted in Spain.
The Connection collection has four sub-collections, which draw inspiration from the elements of nature.
The Forest collection is inspired by the colors of the winter forests—the transforming colors of the leaves, the spirited colors of the fruits and seeds.
The Vastness collection consists of organic shapes of silver-plated metal that are cold to the touch and connect us with the landscape’s vastness.
The Intimacy collection represents the search for human closeness, recreated in pieces shaped as keys and hearts of different sizes, while the Magic Collection reflects the light, color, and strength of the Northern Lights through blue, green, gray, and pink Swarovski Elements crystals.
