Just when you thought seasoned It model Gigi Hadid doesn’t get the jitters, her first-ever stint at the Victoria’s Secret (VS) fashion show got her listening to childhood songs and seeking for bedroom Zen.
“I [just tried] to be calm, honestly. I woke up and listened to Disney music and lit candles,” she told Vogue.com. “As long I’m with my friends, then I’m good, so I have a lot of friends here and that’s keeping me in a good headspace.”
We’re guessing she pulled an Elsa and tried to “Let It Go.” But when she’s got BFF and another VS Fashion Show rookie Kendall Jenner modeling with her, there wasn’t much reason for her to stay nervous. “It’s really awesome and I’m so happy it happened this way,” Kendall said, “It’s really nice we [got] to do it together and spend this time together.”
Life has been good to Gigi so far, save for her most recent breakup. We’ve seen her breakout season this year, modeling for numerous brands and appearing in the runways of New York, Paris, and other cities. But doing this show was her dream.
“Not only is Victoria’s Secret a completely different show, but also it’s a lot more motivating, for me at least,” Gigi admitted. “I love being in lingerie more than in high fashion just because, with my body type—boobs, butt—there’s room for that in lingerie where a lot of the time I feel like it doesn’t fit in the [high fashion] world, so I love this and it’s very me.”
And it shows. All it took is for her to squeal in glee during her audition—her third one at that—for us to know that, really, this was what she wanted. Good for you, Gigi!
