It was a hip day in Ayala Alabang last Saturday.
More than 250 people flocked to Makiling Park to attend Hinge Inquirer Publications’ Backyard Grill at the Park.
Presented by HIP (Hinge Inquirer Publications) magazines, luxury mag Inquirer RED and community lifestyle magazine Southern Living, the festivities opened with kid-friendly activities, with booths manned by Manila’s most popular food purveyors.
Kids enjoyed the DIY pinwheel and activity sheets, while others learned to play the ukulele from The Ukulele Philippines Ensemble. The group also performed the hit “All About That Bass.”
Charlie’s Grind and Grill, Roku Sushi + Ramen, Toby’s Estate, Cupcakes by Sonja, and Bun Appétit (famous for its lobster buns) fed the hungry crowd with some of their best-selling dishes and drinks. Guests dined for a cause, with all five restaurants providing 30 percent of their sales to their chosen charities—which include David Dee, a loving husband and father who was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma and severe pneumonia; I Want to Share Foundation, a group of women with a passion to help others and a commitment to spiritual growth; Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, a nonstock, nonprofit organization that supports programs and projects concerning down syndrome; Move.org, which aims to educate children under Habitat of Humanity; and FUTKAL, or Futbol sa Kalye, an alternative football program in the Philippines.
Dove gave samples of Dove Daily Hair Vitamins to the first 200 female guests. Globe Tattoo Platinum provided free Wi-Fi at the venue, as well as prizes to those who tried out the game Bistro Rock. Avida gave limited edition Swatch watches for those who took their pop quiz, while Alveo Land granted booth visitors a sneak peek of its perspective for Circuit Makati’s Solstice.
Backyard Grill at the Park was in partnership with Globe Tattoo Platinum, Alveo Land, Dove and Avida.
The third Backyard Grill is set at the Park on Dec. 13 at Urdaneta Village Park, Makati.
