The 8th Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) National Choral Competition will hold its semifinals Dec. 11 to 12 at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City. The shows are free to the public and will start at 1 p.m.
The contest has two categories: the children’s choir competition and the open chorale division.
On Dec. 11, Himig Bulilit of St. Paul Paranaque, Pasig Catholic College, Beati Children Ensemble, Pinyahan Elementary School, St. Scholastica’s Academy, Royal Santo Nino Children’s Choir and Children’s Integrated School of Alta Tierra will compete for the children’s choir category.
For the open division competition on Dec. 11, the contestants are Regina Coeli, Technological Institute of the Philippines Choral Society, Centro Escolar University Singers-Manila, Lighter Side Movement, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Bagong Himig Serenata, Earist Chorale, Adamson University Chorale, Kinaadman, New University of Makati Chorale, Magsaysay Chorale, Kalibnusan Male Vocal Ensemble, Meistersingers, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, and Mt. Carmel College of San Francisco.
Another round of semifinals will happen on Dec. 11. The children’s division will have Musica Paulinus, Casa del Nino Montessori, Commonwealth Elementary School, Laoag City Children’s Choir, Cauayan Messiah Christian School, Guadalupe Elementary School and Banga Central Elementary School.
The participants for second day of the semifinals of the open category are Himig Rosena, Boscorale, Los Cantantes de Manila, Hearts in Harmony, University of Manila Singers, CEU Singers-Malolos, Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish Youth Ensemble V and Immaculate Conception Parish Charismatic Chorale.
The winners will compete for the grand finals on December 13 at the Aliw Theater. Show starts at 7 p.m.
Aegis, Sarah Caballero, Darren Espanto, Morisette Amon and Jonalyn Viray will be gracing the grand finals.
The MBC National Chorale Competition will also hold concerts on Dec. 11 and 12 at Shangri-la Plaza’s Grand Atrium.
