These days, I’ve been enjoying the company of my friends in more quiet, intimate spaces rather than the loud clubs and bars that I used to frequent. I used to wrinkle my nose at the thought of hanging out at people’s houses or hotels but now, I prefer it.
Sofitel has a few things up its sleeve for those looking for something new to do this summer.
Afternoon tea with a twist
I love high tea. I’ve always felt it’s a proper way to sit and catch up with friends without the distraction of loud music, smoke or being slightly tipsy. Also, the little bites of food make it easy to converse and eat at the same time.
Just when I thought it could not get any better, I found out that Sofitel now offers a Chocolate Afternoon Tea at Le Bar. Every Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., it offers an expansive chocolate buffet to pair with its traditional savory afternoon tea options. A selection of tea will be offered from a roving trolley, and the unlimited bites and tea come with a glass of sparkling wine.
I got the chance to try some of the chocolate creations of Sofitel’s head chocolatier who is in charge of making all the sweet treats at the hotel. If you can get your hands on the best-selling calamansi truffle, do so and bring some home because it’s something you will crave for long after the day is done.
Unlimited wine party
Just because I refuse to step into a club does not mean I have given up drinking. Instead of cocktails, I like to enjoy a nice glass or two of really good wine. Sofitel’s Le Bar has a secluded corner that would make a great location for an intimate celebration or catch-up with friends.
For P15,000, you have exclusive use of that area for two hours, unlimited finger food such as jamon, cheese, crudites, savory puffs and the like, plus unlimited wine from its dispensers. This offer can accommodate up to 18 guests and seems perfect for a casual birthday salubong or even an after-work company wine session for a job well done.
French wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone Valley are featured, as well as New World wines from California and Australia. If you are feeling adventurous, they even have wine from India, Lebanon, Japan, Croatia, Austria and the Philippines as well as biodynamic and organic offerings.
Sofitel’s Chocolate Afternoon Tea and Unlimited Wine Party are both held at Le Bar. The Afternoon tea is P1,700 per head and the Wine Party is P15,000 for a group of up to 18 people.
