Our first ever makeup product was purchased from Origins. It was “Pinch Your Cheeks,” a small metallic tube that contained watery red fluid that when applied to cheeks delivered a natural, healthy, rosy flush.
Origins’ cheek tint was around way before other brands made lip and cheek tints a staple product. We also loved their Clear Improvement charcoal mask, which was what we used to combat blackheads in our teens, and the Ginger bath and body line, which made us smell so delicious.
When Origins left Manila, we were sad, because they had so many good products that we would miss. It was still available in Hong Kong or Singapore, but unlike makeup, skincare is something we have to purchase from brands available here so we can allow ourselves to become dependent on their products. That, and it’s not really recommended to hoard skin care because it has a higher spoilage rate than makeup.
Today, Origins fans can rejoice because the brand just made its huge comeback at the opening of their bright and airy boutique located at SM Beauty in Makati. It’s the same Origins you know and love, but bigger, better, and with more new plant-based organic concoctions to address more specific skin conditions.
Our favorite bestsellers are back, like Clear Improvement Charcoal masks, Sensory Therapy Peace of Mind, an on-the-spot relief ointment that uses a unique blend of calming and soothing oils to relieve tension headaches and other stress-induced symptoms, along with some new innovations, like their Smarty Plants CC Cream, which contains pigments that instantly correct the complexion, plant extracts which refine skin, and antioxidants that neutralizes environmental damage to skin.

“We also have new products for millennials, like Original Skin, which is a serum and mask combined, for the younger market to help them develop good skin care habits,” says Jill Baysa, Sales and Marketing Manager for Origins. This also ties up with their social media campaign called #QuarterLifeCrisis, which also comes with an app you can download on iOS/Android. The app comes with goodies, special content and contests where you can win Origins products instantly.

The gorgeous boutique honors the brand’s commitment to their philosophy of all-natural plant-based skin and body care, with their star ingredients displayed in their raw beauty right next to the products created by Origins based on years of research and discovery. While they have just set up at SM Makati, they are looking at opening additional boutiques in key areas of the city.
Visit the store and try out which Origins line suits your skin best. Their expert guides also do mini facials and personalized skin assessments. It’s a great soothing oasis to visit when you want to take a break from going around the mall.
