In the 2015 Milan International Furniture Fair last April, Baxter presented a collection that reflected the fusion of architecture, furniture design and art.
Its linear structure echoed the minimalist aesthetics of Japanese architect Tadao Ando—characterized by big blocks of concrete and obsessive attention to detail.
The colors of upholstered furniture were dull, soft and warm, intentionally desaturated but with a strong character. That was how an ashen blue, a mastic pink and a sand color of soft leathers matched with green and gray that characterized polished leathers.
In this way, leather nuances were emphasized and enhanced through combinations with neutral materials. The rough concrete and burnt wood of small tables, the lamps’ brass, the linen and the wool of rugs coexisted, creating a visual fusion of color, matter and design.
There were also rich colors and natural materials reflective of tribal art.
Designers working with Baxter for some time now are Paola Navone, Roberto Lazzeroni, Vincenzo De Cotiis, Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow, Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, Doriana e Massimiliano Fuksas. There has also been a collaboration with the artist Antonino Sciortino.
