“HORSE I,” by Wes Macatangay

“Two of Us: Mom and I” is a joint exhibit by 13-year-old artist Wes Macatangay and his mother Malou. The show is a creative collaboration with over 30 colorful acrylic pieces.

The exhibit is on view until Sept. 15 at Art Elements Asian Gallery in SM Aura.

Wes captures landscapes bedecked with flowers and foliage, valleys with dark blue mountain ranges, streams lined with blooms and pathways with ethereal sky. A few pieces show seascapes with sail boats adrift and cityscapes of skyscrapers and solid structures. One surprise subject is the horse that Wes captures in mid-gallop in numerous multi-hued canvasses. Malou, on the other hand, paints caricatures of female pop icons like Madonna and sexy animated cartoon character Betty Boop.
