The 22-year-old from Pampanga was warmly welcomed by her supporters as she arrived in the country at 6:40 a.m. on Friday via a Philippine Airlines flight.
In a press conference, Colis took the opportunity to thank all her supporters.
“I would like to thank everyone for supporting me, for my fans and of course the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. for doing such a great job in preparing me for the competition. Thank you for all your messages and prayers and I am so happy that I made our country proud,” Colis said.
She said she was happy for the support of the Filipino community in Canada.
“I was really surprised because when I was there, Filipinos would often visit the hotel just to see me. They would give gifts and food just to make me feel at home and welcome. So even though I was in a foreign country, I never felt alone,” she said.
Colis said she was excited on her journey and hoped to inspire others.
“I will be travelling a lot. From what I know, I will be leaving for Los Angeles, Albania, Dominican Republic, and New York in November. I am looking forward to meeting other people so I could get to know and learn from them and at the same time have that privilege of sharing my ideas and our beautiful culture with them,” she said.
Colis is an accountancy graduate of University of Santo Tomas. She was crowned Miss Globe 2015 at Rose Theatre Brampton in Toronto, Canada, on Oct. 8.
