ACACIA Hotel Manila recently launched its Yuletide charity program called The Giving Tree. The fund-raising project invites guests and visitors to be a catalyst for change by purchasing and hanging an origami crane on a fresh pine tree at the hotel lobby. Each crane is priced at P150 or P300 with all proceeds going to The Real LIFE Foundation.

The Real LIFE Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide underprivileged youth with a better life through proper education. “Our goal is not just for them to graduate but to see our scholars’ lives transformed—their families’ and even their communities’,” says communications and development manager Jojit Fernandez.

The group was first formed in 2003 by Dr. Joey Castro, incorporated in 2007 into The Real LIFE Foundation, and expanded to different cities such as Muntinlupa, Caloocan, Cabanatuan, Bacolod, Cebu, Laoag and Dipolog to name a few. The foundation has financially assisted more than 1,000 scholars and produced close to 300 university and vocational graduates.

It takes P5,000 per month for the schooling of a college student and P2,500 per month for a high school student. Funds collected from The Giving Tree program will be used for tuition, miscellaneous fees, books, uniform, daily meals and transportation of scholars.

The Giving Tree will be at Acacia Hotel Manila until Jan. 7, 2016. Find out how you can help by visiting www.acaciahotelsmanila.com.
