Jose Miguel Tantoco, the 30-year-old scion to the retail clan, married his Fil-Italian girlfriend, Isabella Rossi, in simple but elegant rites at St. Benedict Church at Ayala Westgrove in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Friday afternoon, February 19.
Tantoco is the grandson of Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco, Sr., the patriarch of the family that owns Rustan’s and Stores Specialists, Inc., the biggest luxury retail chain in the country. His daughter, Marilen, is the mother of Jose Miguel, nicknamed MJ. The ambassador and Marilen stood by the groom at the altar.
The bride is the daughter of Ettore and Carmelita Rossi.
It was a relatively small gathering of family and friends. After the nuptial rites officiated by Inquirer columnist, Fr. Tito Caluag, the guests went to the reception at Club 22 of the nearby Sta. Elena Golf & Country Club, a residential property development in the south owned by the Tantocos.
The principal sponsors were Rustan’s chair Nedy Tantoco, the groom’s aunts Marilou Tantoco Pineda, Maritess Tantoco Enriquez, Nena Vargas-Tantoco, Lorna Lopez-Tabuena, Genevieve Fructuoso Macasaet, Eduardo Lopez, Ambassador Abdeslam Jaidi, Ramon Francisco, Luigi Tabuena, Edgardo Kasunuran, Michael Harris.
The groom works in the food business unit of the family. Growing up at Brent School, the young couple weren’t really close in school. They were reacquainted a few years ago when they stood as sponsors in the wedding of their friends Juan Rodrigo and Danielle Anne Ponce-Enrile. They had been an item since that wedding.
The club pavilion was tastefully decorated with white flowers for the wedding reception. The ambiance was light, young, on a breezy Friday afternoon—far from the city madding crowd.
