The latest from Ricky Reyes: Metallic hues as hair accent

Beauty expert Ricky Reyes ushers in modern and bolder metallic hues as hair accent for 2016.

At the salon, the stylist will determine the best shade for your hair that will blend with your skintone for a more natural look. Then the application of metallic hues comes next. Three to four colors can be combined to achieve the right shade.

Silver and gold are metals associated with prestige. It’s been said that wearing them promotes courage, confidence and willpower.

Copper enhances energy of gold and silver, and is said to have a healing effect.

Blue is a cool color that radiates peace and relaxation. It offers inspiration and enhances the quality of communication.

Reyes says, “The hair accent can be done on both men and women, with subdued and subtle hints such as blue and copper perfect for adults ages 23 and above, while more adventurous youth from 14 to 22 years old can go for the striking gold and silver streaks.”

A legend in the beauty industry, Reyes introduced trends such as crazy colors, crazy curls and golden highlights in the 1980s; hair rebonding in the ’90s; Hair Reborn and Regold using 24K gold for healthier and shinier straight hair.
