There have been many changes in my life lately—we have a new president, my son Angelo is now taller than me, and I finally learned how to bake an old-fashioned apple pie. Perhaps the only thing that hasn’t changed is this small fatty portion right smack at the center of my tummy which, for some unknown reason—even after dieting and reaching my pre-pregnancy weight a year after giving birth to my second son, Andres—just never decided to go away.
Eight years later, after trying countless things—abdominal exercises, the Master Cleanse which Beyoncé swears by, and using a corset for an entire month in the hopes that, by some divine miracle, this tiny pooch of mine would finally disappear—I discovered a new treatment that would grant me the results of liposuction minus the invasiveness and downtime.
Targeted fat removal
The SculpSure machine is Dr. Aivee Aguilar-Teo’s latest baby, and although it was just launched two months ago, it’s already making huge waves in the beauty industry. The reason this particular treatment is all the rage is because it can finally reach fat cells successfully and, with finality, get rid of stubborn fatty areas.
It’s important to note, however, that this treatment wasn’t made for large areas of fat. It was specifically made to target pockets of fat that simply refuse to go away no matter how much dieting and exercising you’ve done—areas such as your love handles, sides of arms, saddlebags and, yes, that dreaded pooch.
SculpSure makes use of a laser-light device that is aimed at the skin for approximately 25 minutes. During this time, the laser light heats the underlying fat and initiates a process that leads to the loss of fat cells. The feeling can be likened to a slight and intermittent tingling sensation which, overall, is perfectly tolerable.
Results typically become visible after about six weeks, but optimal results can be expected after three months. SculpSure is unique in the sense that one treatment is really all you need to get desired results; however, you may still opt for an additional treatment if you and your doctor agree that it is necessary.
Lately, it has become Singapore-based Dr. Z Teo’s preferred treatment for his patients as well, because it’s painless and not time-consuming. It also gets the stubborn pockets of fat that accumulate on our bodies that are almost impossible to get rid of with exercise alone.
“Perhaps the best thing about SculpSure is that the technology is backed up by extensive clinical papers which confirm that 24 percent of fat is destroyed by the laser after 25 minutes of treatment—and that’s minus the pain often associated with more invasive procedures,” he said.
It has been a month since I tried out the procedure, and I’m already beginning to see the effects of SculpSure. My tummy is still there, but it’s noticeably a bit smaller. I’ve also noticed that my stomach doesn’t feel as heavy after eating.
It’ll take one or two months before I’ll be able to see the maximum results but, this early, I think I can confidently say that I will finally be able to bid farewell to my nine-year-old pooch for good.
SculpSure treatments start at P10,000.
