Gucci was the first luxury brand to host a runway show in this historic venue, the cloistered Westminster Abbey. Gucci’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele, had a vision of quirky, eccentric yet proper ladies of London in the ’70s reinvented with LSD acid-inspired colors like azure and dangerous orange.

There was a lot of embroidery—in magical images of snakes and Victorian birds. Nerdy-looking librarian types wearing nerdy eyeglasses, colored socks with kitten-heel pumps and matron handbags ruled the runway.

In these powerful images, see how this relative unknown who’s now at the helm of Gucci (a brand born in 1920) makes a splash. And yes, the clothes are said to be selling like hotcakes.

I love these designs and, if I were a woman, this is my look for 2017. Based on reports from fashionista.com
