The newest collaboration of National Book Store with a local personality was born of envy. Lifestyle blogger and entrepreneur Cecile Zamora jokingly admitted it herself last week in her popular blog, Chuvaness.com.
“It started when Rajo Laurel presented his NBS collab last October 2013, followed by Daphne Oseña Paez,” she wrote, and National Artist BenCab. “To make a long story short, nainggit ako (I got envious).”
After getting the go signal from National Book Store to come up with a collection, Zamora contacted her friend and graphic designer Yodel Pe, and tapped illustrator Keeshia Felipe whom she discovered on Instagram.
The trio came up with a limited edition set of totes, pouches and paper products (memo pad, notebook, note card set, gift wrapper, gift tags, and fancy doll stickers) that have a clean and quirky Japanese-like sensibility.
“Cecile is one of the most credible taste-makers and sought-after lifestyle bloggers,” Xandra Ramos-Padilla, National Book Store’s managing director, said in a statement. “She traveled to Japan and other countries to look for inspirations for this project.”
At the launch held earlier today at the Mega Fashion Hall atrium in SM Megamall, guests walked into a fenced-in area where the Chuvaness x National Book Store collection was displayed in “Chuva-approved” pinewood shelves. Blown up images by illustrator Keeshia Felipe were propped up and displayed around the venue.
“It’s an honor for me to collaborate with National Book Store because it’s been my happy place since I was a child,” Zamora said.
Prices for the pieces range from P200 for a set of 12 note cards with envelopes or a roll of wrapping paper to P600 for the large and roomy tote.
