Michael Kors and Fujifilm announce a new collaboration—the photography brand’s first-ever fashion partnership—with the launch of the Michael Kors x Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 instant film camera.
The camera comes in a gold metallic color that captures the Michael Kors aesthetic. The brand logo is printed on the front of the case body, and the designer’s signature is showcased in the same gold hue on the camera door.
The Instax Mini 70 features a sleek design, special selfie mode and high-performance flash that automatically calculates surrounding brightness and adjusts shutter speeds. The smart selfie mode automatically adjusts settings—a function sure to be a hit.
The collaboration was directly inspired by Michael Kors’ Scout handbag collection, with silhouettes that emulate vintage camera bags.
Crafted from leather, the Scout features multiple compartments and a cross-body shape, and comes in a variety of colors with the option of adding interchangeable studded guitar straps for easy carrying. Other add-on items created by Michael Kors to use with the camera and bag include an Instax photo scrapbook, leather Instax photo keychain and a gold-tone chain camera strap for the camera itself.
“With the popularity of Instagram, there’s been this huge resurgence lately of film—and I love that,” said Kors. “Using instant photography has always been such an integral part of my creative process, whether it’s snapping photos in preparation for the shows or taking behind-the-scenes shots.”
“Fashion and photography are about giving a voice to individuals as they express themselves, and this exclusive Instax Mini 70 by Michael Kors is the pinnacle of style and substance,” said Mark Yamamoto, president and CEO of Fujifilm North America Corp., and president of Fujifilm Holdings America Corp.
The camera was unveiled globally on Sept. 21 at Photokina 2016, the world’s largest and most important trade fair for the photographic and imaging industries held biennially in Cologne, Germany. The camera will be conveniently sold as a bundle, including ready-to-use film, and will be available through the Holiday 2016 season. The partnership will also be a focus at upcoming events in Michael Kors stores globally.
In the Philippines, Michael Kors is at Central Square in Bonifacio High Street Central, Greenbelt 5, Newport Mall, Power Plant Mall, Rustan’s Makati and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
