Following the success of their first artist collaboration, the women behind L’Indochine, Char Carlos and Leona Panutat, have tapped calligrapher and watercolorist Anina Rubio to produce a lifestyle collection.
“Anina’s pieces all tell a story,” say Carlos and Panutat. “They are vibrant, and absolutely beautiful to look at.”
They say that “each L’Indochine piece is curated and unique, but at the same time cohesive and focused on one goal: to inspire.”
Inspired by Rubio’s love of travel and explorations of Philippine beaches, L’Indochine created a 10-piece collection for island stylish living.
The collection tells of Anina’s travels, processes, adventures and perceptions of Philippine nature and culture.
The collection is inspired by Philippine nature—banana leaves, coconut leaves, hibiscus, urchins, corals and seaweed. “My designs are also more pattern-oriented, which is a deviation from my usual typography/calligraphy artworks,” Rubio says.
She has observed how “our country is surrounded by greens and blues, which sparked my designs for this collaboration: Underwater and Tropics.”
This is the store’s first collaboration that carries home and fashion pieces. “Our previous collaborations focused mainly on fashion accessories —jewelry, bags and pouches,” says Carlos. “This time, we wanted to create beautiful pieces for the home as well, because we’ve always believed in surrounding ourselves with things we love, pieces that spark joy and tell stories.”
There are tote bag for traveling, notebooks for sketching or notes, pencil cases, pouches for storing swimwear and L’Indochine’s bestselling travel clutch; for the home—handpainted galvanized buckets, stools, beaded pillow cases, placemats and framed artwork.
The #L’IndochineLovesAninaRubio collection is available at L’Indochine. L’Indochine is at 4/L, SM Megamall and 3/L, SM Aura Premier.
