The Cultural Center of the Philippines in cooperation with the Filipinas Opera Society Foundation, Inc. launched the 4th season of the Met Opera in HD yesterday with a preview of the Met Opera production of Giacomo Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”
Anthony Minghella’s beautiful, atmospheric production of “Madama Butterfly” enhances Puccini’s drama of unfortunate, doomed love.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines has partnered with the Metropolitan Opera of New York to bring its exemplary productions to Filipino audiences through its MetOpera in HD program.
The groundbreaking program delivers world-class performances to offsite venues all over the world using high-definition video technology and Dolby sound recreating the experience of watching an opera production at the Met “live.”
Other productions scheduled for regular screening at the Greenbelt 3 cinemas for 2016-2017 are: “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” (“The Barber of Seville,” Gioachino Rossini) on Dec. 6; “Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci” (Pietro Mascagni / Ruggero Leoncavallo) on Jan. 10, 2017; “Così fan tutte” (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) on Feb. 14, 2017; “Madama Butterfly” (Giacomo Puccini) on March 14, 2017; “Turandot” (Giacomo Puccini) on April 4, 2017; and “Tristan und Isolde” (Richard Wagner) on May 9, 2017.
