Two highly respected peer-reviewed academic journals from the Philippines and Australia will collaborate on a joint publication to discuss the significance of Pope Francis’ second encyclical, “Laudato Si,” in the cultural and geographical context of Asia and the Pacific.
Themed “Reading Laudato Sí in Asia-Pacific,” the project results from the research partnership that was forged in September during the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities Academic Forum, held in Broome, Australia.
The respected journals—Philippiniana Sacra of the University of Santo Tomas and Solidarity of the University of Notre Dame Australia’s “Solidarity”—invite scholars to send their abstracts for their research about implication of “Laudato Si” to this part of the globe related to such issues as “the ecological crises, the imperative of justice, the practice of integral ecology in faith and society, models of ecological education, and the indigenous community and the regional commons.”
Scholars may send their abstracts of no more than 300 words, with their updated curriculum vitae, to [email protected] or [email protected] until Dec. 9.
A joint committee of “Philippiniana Sacra” and “Solidarity” associates will assess the received abstracts. Authors, whose abstracts will be selected, will be notified on Dec. 16.
