Fashion designer Maureen Disini-Teichert and Bonsai Fojas-Balboa, creators of bridal and entourage headware brand Bonne Handmade Headcandy, collaborate in a retail clothing brand for little girls called Mari Maru.
Pronounced “mar-ee-ma-roo,” the playful name combines Maria (Bonsai’s birth name) and Maru (Maureen’s childhood nickname). The two were high school classmates.
“Our aim is to design beautiful, well-made, comfortable ready-to-wear clothing for little girls, ages 1 to 7. Dresses with good-quality cuts, which will wear well and can be handed down,” says Teichert.
“You’ll find classic fabrics and designs freshened up with a bright palette of colors and patterns for a unique and contemporary twist,” adds Balboa. “Each dress also comes with a free matching bunny we fondly call Mari.” (Available at Instagram @marimaru.ph) —ANNE A. JAMBORA
