The phrase “at the right place, at the right time” is normally thrown around lightly these days, but Santiago Borja was indeed in one when he took this amazing photograph.

The pilot-photographer managed to capture an exhilarating image of a thunderbolt emerging from several cloud formations in the sky.

Borja, as per TravelandLesiure, was flying across the Andes mountain range in Ecuador when he noticed a storm brewing due to the dark clouds.

Waiting for the perfect timing, the pilot bravely positioned himself above the cockpit of his aircraft and captured the exact moment when the lighting struck.

Meanwhile, Borja, an experienced weather and nature photographer, has snapped even more phenomenal photos over the course of his many adventures around the world.

His jaw-dropping snaps can be seen on his official Instagram account with the handle @santiagoborja, which has gained over 11,000 followers as of this writing. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
