A Japanese designer by the name of Haruki Nakamura has taken the art of “karakuri” and applied it to paper creations to bring them to life.

Karakuri roughly translates as “trick” or “mechanized” and generally refers to the making of automatic-moving puppets or dolls. Nakamura took the basic principles and applied it to paper creations to give them movement.
