Converse is excited to welcome Zhang Yi Xing to its community of celebrity collaborators.
Through this partnership, Yi Xing joins the ranks of the Converse Collective, a remarkable group of young artists and ambassadors who reflect the individuality, creativity and the spirit of today’s youth.
The Converse Collective already includes the likes of Miley Cyrus and Tyler, the Creator.
Yi Xing, member of the South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo, will share his passion for the sneaker brand’s beloved One Star through the latest One Star seasonal lookbook.
First appearing in 1974 as a basketball sneaker, the One Star has transcended sports to become a staple of street style. This sneaker has been adopted by punks, skaters, artists, fashion designers and other cliques over the last 40 years, each time developing a greater cultural significance.
Presented by Yi Xing, this year’s One Star is upgraded with new and exciting materials and colors.
With over 25 million fans on Weibo, Yi Xing is a distinctive and hugely popular role model among the youth. Born in 1991, he continues to make an impact in the world of music, TV and film. This is the One Star spirit he stands for—constant movement through creative expression.
“I’ve always liked Converse,” says Yi Xing, “so it is quite amazing to be able to share the spirit of the sneaker because I’ve loved it since I was young. And now I get to wear it. Standing for the daringly free, expressive and creative is so natural—sounds just like me!”
His forthcoming lookbook collaboration with Converse is just the first of many projects with the iconic sneaker brand.
