The circle as a geometric shape has been associated with the universal symbol of perfection. Life itself revolves
around cycles and perpetual motion. Similarly, the square is also perfect in its configuration despite humans associating the shape as signifying notions of confinement and parameters.
Art Zamora is keen in recognizing that mere shapes can in fact embody what he sought to express in art. Those excellent masterpieces from classical to an amazing sceneries are currently being featured in ‘Zirkular: The Art of Art Zamora’ in Solaire Art Gallery, Solaire Resort and Casino, Pasay City, PH.
At times, it’s hard to miss Basquiat or Picasso-like formal articulations.
But whatever Zirkular is delving into, Zamora’s practice is to ensure that each piece is executed, contemplated and battled with, if only to prove the artist’s mettle and bravura, inspiration and dedication to his craft. His exploration of color and technique alone is hard to surpass by the ill-equipped derring-do. Let alone the social contents that he instill on a problematic means as abstraction.
Zirkular as Art Zamora’s signature, it is a mark not only dominates his picture planes as a form but as a testament to his belief, which is to matter positively above all else.
