Japanese cosmetics brand Kanebo recently expanded its skincare range with three products that treat collagen depletion. As women mature, the previously abundant collagen in their bodies starts to degrade, which leads to loss of skin elasticity. Visible signs include sagging and wrinkles.
Kanebo believes one can reduce the signs of aging by understanding how skin changes through the years, and how to properly care for it. Kanebo’s Graceful Flow Lotion is a velvety liquid that helps balance skin’s moisture and softness; the Fulfilling Emulsion helps firm and plump up skin while smoothing away fine lines; and the Skin-Tightening Cream acts like a deep, moisturizing veil to help improve the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin while tightening skin.
Chief makeup artist and trainor Floe Tapayan said the emulsion and face cream help the body produce collagen, its active ingredient being the amino acid methylserine.
“Our customers are very particular about the scent of our products, whether it be skincare or cosmetics,” Tapayan said. Aside from the efficacy of a certain product, it must also smell good. The three skincare products share a base note of refreshing tea flowers described as a green floral bouquet.
A fourth item, Kanebo Skin Oil Gloss Water, is a biphase oil and water product that can be used for face, body and hair.
The cult Japanese brand has also come out with its Autumn-Winter makeup 2017 collection that includes the Kanebo Tone Up Primer, whose yellow green tint combats any redness. It prepares skin for the application of foundation like the brand’s new Luster Cream Foundation that comes in eight shades.
“We’re happy to announce that Kanebo has come out with its first foundation brush, whose angled design helps deposit the right amount of foundation, depending on whether you prefer full or medium coverage,” Tapayan said.
The makeup in this season’s shades include a contouring compact, sheer lip primer, six shades of lipsticks (Kanebo Intense Crayon Rouge), lavender eyeshadow and mascara for brows and lashes.
