“Multifaceted,” “timeless” and “otherworldly” are some apt descriptions for J Consunji’s forthcoming second solo exhibition of abstract artworks, “Paths of Light.” The series of 11 contemporary paintings to be exhibited Jan. 10-20 at Galerie Joaquin, The Podium, harkens to portraiture, depicting images of heads and figures, but set against ambiguous spaces or landscapes, visually and physically staggered into lateral panels.
Consunji uses the reconfiguration of visual and plastic composition to explore ideas of being, multiple dimensions and man’s personal yet fleeting connections with nature.
Consunji took up Industrial Design at De La Salle University and visual arts at Australian National University, where he was awarded a Westende Traveling Scholarship to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts Paris.
“Paths of Light” will have an artist’s reception on Jan. 10, 6 p.m., Galerie Joaquin, 3/F The Podium. Call 6347954, e-mail [email protected].
