Filipino-American Rhys Miguel is a typical, fun-loving kid in the United States whose life has become more exciting when he signed up as a Bench endorser.
“Dancing, singing and acting workshops keep me busy,” says the new Benchsetter member, 17, who hails from Kentucky.
Currently Miguel attends school online and finds time to exercise regularly.
“I want to be good at whatever I’m doing, while having fun when experiencing new things,” he declares.
For Miguel, a normal summer in the United States means “waking up late, maybe around 10:30 a.m., and then I make breakfast. I call my friends and ask if they have plans for the day. I mow the lawn. I play fetch with my dog.”
He’s also into sports. Growing up, he played basketball, football, rugby, soccer, golf and his all-time favorite, boxing. Unfortunately, he happened to be nursing an injury when he first arrived in Manila.
Miguel recalls that becoming a Benchsetter happened by chance.
“I met (Bench founder Ben Chan) through my uncle. They are good friends, and my uncle mentioned me to Mr. Chan,” recounts Miguel. “I wasn’t expecting anything, I thought we were just going to say ‘hi,’ and maybe get to tour the Bench Tower.”
Being an ambassador of the popular fashion and lifestyle brand isn’t a stretch for Miguel, who has been buying and wearing Bench clothing way before he became a Benchsetter.
“So now I get to represent clothes I actually love wearing,” he quips. “I also love the opportunity to do fashion shows, store visits and photo shoots.”
He’s grateful for being given the chance to prove his worth, and the honor and privilege of being a member of the Bench family. —CONTRIBUTED
