Brazilian journalist Julia Guimarães of Sportv did not think twice about fighting back when a FIFA World Cup fan tried to kiss her, as she reported live about the football tournament from Yekaterinburg, Russia.
In a video clip that has now circulated in most of social media, Guimarães can be seen standing in front of the camera, ready to report, when a fan rushed up to her and tried to kiss her. Guimarães seemed to have fast reflexes as she sensed what was happening, and quickly ducked down to dodge the fan’s kiss.
But instead of letting it go and allowing the fan to get away with sexually harassing her, Guimarães turned to him and unleashed her anger.
“Don’t do this! Never do this again!” Guimares shouted at the man as the camera rolled. “Don’t do this, I don’t allow you to do this, never, OK?”
“This is not polite, this is not right. Never do this to a woman, OK? Respect!” Guimarães she went on, looking irritated as she straightened her shirt.
The netizen who shared the video last June 25, a certain Colin Millar (@Millar_Colin), praised Guimarães for her response. “Great response from Brazilian TV journalist Julia Guimaraes of Sportv to unacceptable behaviour. Not easy to show such restraint in the face of harassment.”
