To mark her 15th year as bridal designer, Zandra Lim originally planned to hold a fashion show at Discovery Primea in Makati. Instead, hotel officials suggested she organize a bridal fair featuring wedding suppliers she had worked with.
The BS Pharmacy graduate of the University of Santo Tomas chose to focus on fashion design, enrolling at the Istituto de Moda Burgo in Milan, Italy. In 2003, she established an atelier, Zandra Lim Designs.
“The show was initially supposed to be a celebration and thanksgiving for 15 years in the industry but I also wanted it to benefit marginalized cancer patients,” Lim said at a press event in the hotel.
She and husband Mars Imasa wanted to turn over a sizable amount for the social service cancer patients at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City, so they welcomed the chance to hold a two-day event that would include more participants.
The Crystal Bridal Fair at Discovery Primea on Sept. 15 and 16 will be different from other fairs as the models will be the wedding suppliers themselves.
“They will wear my designs on the runway and are doing it for free,” said Lim. “I wanted it this way—to have my clothes worn by real people—so that the audience could imagine themselves wearing my designs. Every bride wants to wear something special on her wedding day; that’s where I come in.”
She will present a 48-piece collection guests can bid on during the silent auction to be held the following day. A portion of the proceeds, including those set aside by participating wedding suppliers, will benefit the social service cancer patients at the Cancer Institute of St. Luke’s Quezon City.
Entrance to the fair on Sunday is free but admission to the show on Saturday night (Sept. 15) is priced at P1,500, and is inclusive of cocktails.
Crystal Bridal Fair is held in partnership with Niceprint, Amantefleurs, Rhed Sarmiento Events, Discovery Primea and is sponsored by Metrotech Projectors, LST Lights & Sounds and Pikulyar Photo.
