James Patterson’s upcoming book “The Chef” was previewed through an interactive experience on Facebook Messenger.
The book’s interactive preview went online on Oct. 30, while “The Chef” has been scheduled for a Feb. 18, 2019, release, as reported by Variety.
To access, Messenger users need to look up the phrase “The Chef by James Patterson.” Opening a chat thread with the account will introduce readers to an interactive experience in which they can play as detectives and sift through clues the chat window will present.
The experience includes video clips and audio content that help to immerse the readers into the mystery.
“The Chef” will follow New Orleans police detective Caleb Rooney. He also runs a food truck called “Killer Chef” when he came under investigation for a murder he was accused of committing in the line of duty. While Rooney fought the charges, he discovered a terrorist plot targeting the city.
“Ten years ago, if you told me I’d see one of my novels come to life through scrolling chat bubbles, video and audio content, I would have laughed,” said Patterson.
“But exploring new ways to connect with fans is important to me and Messenger’s experience for ‘The Chef’ not only makes the story more accessible to readers across new generations, but offers an enticing and thrilling read like never before.”
Apart from the Messenger experience, a Facebook Live Q&As with Patterson, Instagram profiles for the characters, and an FB group will also be created to enhance the atmosphere surrounding the story of “The Chef.” Alfred Bayle /ra
