Mutya ng Pilipinas Aya Fernandez was proclaimed Dream Girl of the Year International at the culmination of the 2018 Miss Tourism International pageant held at the Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa in Luala Lumpur, Malaysia, Friday night.

The University of the Philippines Broadcast Communication student failed to score a back-to-back victory for the Philippines, as the top title went to Indonesia’s Astari Indah Vernideani.

Last year’s winner, Jannie Loudette Alipo-on, was the fourth Filipino woman to be proclaimed Miss Tourism International.

Three more winners were proclaimed in the pageant — Miss Tourism Metropolitan International Sylvia from Kenya, Miss Tourism Global Sandra Callahan from Australia, and Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International Laura Scuchare from Latvia.

The host delegate received the special title Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress, while Fernandez also got the special award Miss Dazzling.

The Philippines is the most successful country in the pageant, with four crowns.

Aside from Alipo-on, the other winners are Peachy Manzano, the late Rizzini Alexis Gomez, and Angeli Dione Gomez. /atm
