MANILA, 24th February 2019 — TikTok, the world’s leading destination for short-form mobile videos, celebrated the winners of its recently concluded #themainevent in-app challenge by bringing together the country’s next batch of online superstars with top TikTok celebrity, Maine Mendoza.
#themainevent in-app challenge, which was held from January 25 to February 5, is the 2019 edition of TikTok’s 1 Million Audition campaign to discover the next creators on the rise in the Philippines.

As part of the event, Maine also delivered a special performance for her fellow TikTok creators and offered them some tips in creating bite-sized videos that click, as she was first known for her viral short videos before she became one of the country’s sensational stars.
“I’m really thrilled to be part of TikTok’s journey in the Philippines and being given the chance to celebrate Pinoy creativity and talent with these rising online stars,” said Maine. “I’m looking forward to capturing more of my favorite moments and engaging with more fans on the app.”
TikTok also held a 1 Million Audition in September 2018. The three winners–Gyl St. Pierre, Issey Miyake Parto, Vishnu Isles–were then flown to South Korea to join the TikTok Gala with fellow creators from all over the world.
TikTok 101 with Local Creators
Earlier in the day, local creators took the stage for an exclusive media workshop, showcasing their experience with the TikTok app. Present at the session were Jiro Morato (@jiroknows), Alex Louisse (@alexlouisse) and Issey (@miyaketakoyaki). The session saw creators showcasing their favorite TikTok tips and tricks.
Sharing his thoughts as a TikTok creator, Jiro said his journey on the platform has been a blessing to his career as a social media star. “I’m truly honored to be in the company of other talented creators featured at #themainevent. TikTok has been really instrumental in helping me get a bigger fan base online as it showcases my transition videos to a wider audience.”
Alex, meanwhile, explained how TikTok and its tools have helped her tap into her creativity. “TikTok has video creation and editing tools that are easy to use, which allow me to focus on the content that I want to create. It constantly rolls out challenges which give us a dose of creative inspiration for our videos.”
For Issey, TikTok is a great platform to share her talent. “TikTok has helped me reach out and encourage fellow dreamers to keep sharing their talent. This community has not only been very supportive of my projects and my videos, but it also inspires me to create better content.”
TikTok, which has been hailed one of the most downloaded apps in 2018, has been home to millions of creators from different parts of the globe, including the Philippines. As a platform that celebrates trends and embraces diversity, TikTok has become the preferred platform for expression, given its lowered boundaries for sharing, creating, discovering — all made easy on mobile.
