To be You and To be Ultimate, the youth and collegiate sports subsections of Inquirer Lifestyle, are again partnering with the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) for the league’s upcoming cheerleading competition.
The 2019 edition will be held March 9 at 12 p.m at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
This marks the second time To be You and To be Ultimate are supporting the annual event. The first partnership happened in 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The CEU Pep Squad is aiming to extend its reign as senior division champion for the past four years. In 2018, the University of Asia and the Pacific Firestarters and University of Makati Herons Cheerleading Team wound up second and third, respectively.
Also last year, Poveda Hardcourt proved it was the team to beat in the high school division after dethroning defending champions St. Paul College Pasig. Miriam College Hardcourt snagged the bronze title.
An athletic association founded exclusively for women in 1970, WNCAA also holds competitions in badminton, basketball, futsal, poomsae, softball, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and volleyball. —CONTRIBUTED
