Del Hall, a sales director at a craft beer brewing company, says he is chugging solely beer until Easter Sunday, reported WKRC on Monday, March 11.

He credited the idea to monks in Germany in the 1600s who reportedly developed a malty beer dubbed “liquid bread” to sustain them during their Lenten fast. He said he will try different types of beer during the process and will continue to drink water.

Hall is also interested in challenging his body, given his background as an army veteran.

“I was number one in my class in the army, I’ve run a full marathon before, 26.2 miles, I’ve done big challenges but this seems very daunting,” he said.

He has been posting updates of his journey on his Facebook profile; seven days into his beer diet, he has lost 15.6 pounds.

As per his latest vlog, he takes two to five beers a day, and black coffee. He said that the feeling of hunger subsided after five days and that he now has a heightened sense of smell. Niña V. Guno/JB
