With the number of apparel, footwear and accessories brands available in the country today, consumers are spoiled for choice. Some shoppers, however, feel daunted by the sheer volume. That’s where Stylist’s Closet comes in.

The shopping event that started at Alabang Town Center a couple of years ago has recently expanded to include various Ayala Malls throughout the country. The series of pop-up shops will be up until Aug. 18, and is in line with Ayala Malls’ promise to shoppers to “awaken amazing finds.”

This time, stylist Pam Quiñones and her team were tapped to ferret out fashion finds in the different malls. The former editor in chief of the defunct L’Officiel Manila and founder of Qurator Studio, a commercial and creative styling studio, Quiñones identified four fashion “personalities” for the mini fashion show held at The Gallery at Greenbelt 5 on July 4.

Athleisure updated with neon accessories

“The Pure personality is about soft layering, cool blues mixed with metallics, while Expressive is for the maximalist in all of us—dark opulence, layers of decadent fabrics,” Quiñones said.

“The Natural personality prefers raw, unpolished, weathered and timeless looks, while the Unpredictable personality likes athleisure separates with pops of neon.”

She styled the models—five for each trend—in layered separates that worked, some more than the others.

A monochromatic blue sequined sheath was paired with white ankle booties, a beaded black dress was worn over pants, and a camouflage printed fleece jacket topped a collared shirt with black-and-white squiggles by artist Keith Haring.

Summery white eyelet dress

The athleisure set consisted of body-con pieces (DKNY-printed leggings, anoraks, racer tops) but bumped up fashion-wise with snake-print sandals and citrine eyewear.

Moods

“They’re not really trends because trends come and go. It’s more about mood,” Quiñones said.

Filipino shoppers are very well-informed, she said, adding that access to the internet has democratized fashion.

For the pop-up store at the Glorietta atrium last week, Quiñones and her team blitzed through 42 stores at Glorietta in the span of four hours. That pop-up has since packed up and is making its way to the other Ayala Malls.

From July 12 to 14, Stylist’s Closet will be at UP Town Center, making a stop at Marquee Mall for a stylists’ ramp display on July 13, before heading down south to Alabang Town Center from July 19 to 21.

Next stops, from July 20 to Aug. 18 are at Market! Market!, Ayala Center Cebu, Harbor Point, TriNoma and Solenad.

Wrap-up will be at Bonifacio High Street from Aug. 16 to 18 with a roundtable discussion scheduled on Aug. 17.

“This year, Stylist’s Closet packs a stronger punch by bringing more displays, runway preview show and talks closer to the stylish folk across several cities,” Ayala Malls marketing group’s Eunice Velasco said in a statement. “Pam and our lineup of speakers are not only pushing people to shop, but urging them to shop smart. They are not teaching fashion, they are teaching style.”
