Barbara Malewicz is the trendsetter of the "look-at-me!" generation | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

If you follow @barbaramalewicz on Instagram, you’ll get access to her Story filters marked by plastic skin, double C Chanel logos, Playboy bunnies, gummy bears, and alien heads. It’s a good intro into the world of this creative.

You may be asking “Who is she?” and “Why are her filters a fever dream of Bratz-sized lips, ’90s iconography, and fake freckles?”

To answer your first question, Barbara is a freelance journalist and stylist based in Paris. She got her start interning for “L’Officiel” and worked her way to be the editor of “WAD Magazine, ” the Parisienne publication that documents urban lifestyle in the fashion capital with a certain streak of cool and irreverence.

On her own, Barbara has commanded her a cult following of 90.4k followers. It may be a small number by global standards. But with the reckoning of what the word “influencer” truly means, it doesn’t matter given how Barbara’s take on fashion will make you want to re-think your wardrobe immediately.

or at the very least, jump on a fun trend that’s Instagrammable.

The girl can pair dainty dresses with Gucci printed high socks or go for a full neon ensemble any day of the week. Her captions are short, sometimes punny, but it doesn’t give off that manufactured feel or goes overboard with those affiliate codes.

Trendy and all about that “look-at-me!” or “to-be-seen-in” vibe, trust Barbara will be the one sporting what’s going to the next It bag or shoe before it floods the rest of your feed.

In a profile with HighSnobiety, she describes her style succinctly, “Today I’m a result of the ’90s culture and Barbie reign. Never afraid of ending with weird combos.”

Weird it may seem, it’s what’s clicking. Barbara is currently one of the fashion insiders of fast-fashion staple ASOS and has done collaborations with Lazy Oaf and Reebok.

For an overload of sneakers, unlikely clothing combinations, and fresh-off-the-runway looks, give Barbara a click.
