Rockwell Land Corp. has gone out of the inner city in the south— into the historic Magellan Bay— when it launched the Aruga Resort and Residences-Cebu in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City.

The area is well known as the strip of land lined by the poshest hotels and resorts in Cebu province.

Punta Engaño, or simply Engaño to the locals, has an unobstructed panoramic view of the Hilutungan Channel and historic Magellan Bay.

Aruga Resort and Residences- Mactan has this stunning view.

Aruga Pavilion set up in the future site of the development has a showroom and a beachside structure for entertaining guests; there’s even an infinity pool.

The five-hectare enclave is still being developed, but guests got a taste and feel of the Rockwell lifestyle in Cebu, complemented by Mactan’s scenic ambiance and the summer outing vibes of the 270 meter-wide beachfront.

The shoreline has fine white sand and the waters are crystal-clear.

In contrast to the Filipiniana-inspired bedroom, the bathroom is modern, with metal frames and white marble accents, giving the space a contemporary feel. At the launch Rockwell Land president Nestor Padilla (left photo, extreme left), Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Q. Chan, Rockwell treasurer and SVP for office development Mike Lopez, and Rockwell AVP for project development Chris Gecha look at the scale model of Aruga Resort and Residences.

After the blessing of the showroom, guests enjoyed an afternoon of cocktails and grilled seafood by the water.

The pavilion, with the showroom, gave guests the perfect preview of the features of the upcoming resort-style property.

“We’re very excited,” said Rockwell Land president Nestor Padilla. “This is our first residential-resort development. The location is perfect, and you can call it our little piece of paradise.”

The average unit in Aruga Resort Residences-Mactan is priced at P311,000 per square meter—a piece of paradise apparently does not come cheap. Beachfront units are more expensive, with prices starting at P357,000 per square meter. Units range from one- to four-bedroom units, with sizes ranging from 67 to 292 sq m.

No matter the rates, Rockwell Land said 54 percent of the first residential building of Aruga already has been sold.

The development has three towers; the first residential tower is now preselling. It has 276 units for sale.

Aruga’s residential and hotel towers will be turned over in 2023.

Apart from beachfront villas, residential spaces and hotel rooms, there will be a planned private gym, a chapel, pools, and an expansive function room.
