TOKYO — Thousands of starlike light-emitting diodes (LEDs) delighted visitors to the Tokyo Midtown culture and shopping complex in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on Tuesday, the first day of the Starlight Garden 2019 event.
About 190,000 LEDs and about 100 glowing balloons of two different sizes represent celestial bodies at the illumination event, the 13th this year. Visitors can enjoy other-worldly views of the eight-meter-tall Space Tower surrounded by sparkling lights and soap bubbles floating through the air.
The event is taking place on a lawn area of about 2,000 square meters at Tokyo Midtown from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. each day until Dec. 25.
