Almost every mall has its own version of the famous unli-BBQ concept. There is a new player that is sure to stand out from among all samgyeopsal players. Welcome, Mr. Hong’s Unlimited Samgyeopsal.
It celebrated the grand opening of its maiden branch recently with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Paul Izon Reyes, President of Mr. Hong’s. He was joined by Miss Earth 2018 Nguyen Phuong Kahn; Miss Scuba Philippines candidate Chiara Lim; Miss Scuba Philippines 1st Runner Up Cria Villanueva; Miss Scuba International 2015 Cindy Madduma; Miss Scuba Philippines 2019 Grand Winner Liz Mabao; and Louise Theunis, Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 Grand Winner. The 40-seater unli-samgyeopsal restaurant is located at the 2/F of Vista Mall Taguig.
Standing out from other Samgyeopsal concepts
What makes Mr. Hong’s stand out is its no-frills, delicious unli-Korean chicken, pork and beef barbecue in original, sweet and spicy flavors served fast and efficiently.
Along with unli kimchi, lettuce, marble potatoes, onion leeks, bean sprouts, fish cake, and other side dishes and dips, guests can also enjoy unlimited steamed egg, cheddar cheese, plus the much sought after Lechon sauce. Get the service team’s attention by slapping the Taekwondo Hit Pad and they will serve you in a jiffy.
“We studied the existing establishments and we added some elements that we know people will be looking for, then streamlined the food and service. Mr. Hong’s also trained its staff to deliver quality and fast service so waiting time could be reduced. Ours is simply good Korean food, slightly tweaked to please the Filipino palate,” Reyes explained.
Another unique feature is its table mechanism, a first-of-its-kind in the Korean BBQ industry. The tables can be minimized or extended as needed.
Guests are invited to wear the Hanbok, Korea’s national dress, and take photos while waiting outside for their turn to be seated. Once inside, they will see the all-Korean elements stamped in all corners of the interior.
Go “big” or go “Hong”
The name Mr. Hong was inspired by the first Korean national Reyes met when he was a child. Aside from this, the Korean symbol of “Hong” means “Big”.
“Our goal is to grow big and we teach our staff to practice becoming “big” everyday, in the effort they give to serve every guest, the goals they have for the restaurant, and even in their personal visions. We encourage them to think and feel big,” Reyes said.
Striving for bigness, Mr. Hong’s will open in Starmall Shaw before branching out to other malls so they can serve more unli Korean BBQ fine-tuned to please the Filipino foodie’s taste and heart.
Mr. Hong’s Unlimited Samgyeopsal is now open on the 2nd floor of VistaMall Taguig along Cayetano Blvd., Taguig City and at Starmall Alabang with the 3rd store opening in March at Starmall EDSA-Shaw. Check out its IG: @MrHongsPH and FB: Mr. Hong’s
