Lockdown may have forced people to focus on essentials like food and sustained good health but it didn’t prevent medical aesthetic industry pioneer, Merz Aesthetics, from singling out the top-performing clinics.
Despite the challenges of social distancing, the company behind Ultherapy® and other aesthetic products was able to gather the country’s leading dermatologists, plastic surgeons, aestheticians and beauty clinic owners for a one-of-a-kind livestream event, the Merz Tala Awards.
Taking home the highest and most prestigious awards of the night were Doctors Aivee and Z Teo of the Aivee Clinic. Their stellar performance this past year merited the Overall 7-star Award, 7-Star Ultherapy® Transducer Award, 7-Star Neurotoxin Award, 7-Star Hyaluronic Acid Filler Award, 7-Star Calcium Hydroxylapatite Filler Award, and 5-Star Ultherapy® Control Unit Award.
The couple’s wins are well-deserved in an extraordinary year where the world is still figuring out how to deal with the effects of COVID-19. In an interview with Lifestyle last month, Aivee recalled how she had noticed that a lot of patients had been wanting to go back to the clinic.
“Many of them had a lot of skin concerns such as acne breakouts, skin dehydration and dryness, allergies and skin pigmentation. Some patients felt that they had aged from the stress of staying at home. The top treatments requested were acne treatments, skin hydration treatments and skin tightening procedures like Ulthera,” she said.
Before they could reopen, however, they made sure the clinic and facilities were properly equipped following stringent sanitation and safety protocols.

To this end, the Teos implemented protocols for patients that included rapid testing for patients, temperature check, and hand and footwear sanitation.
“We also invested in Aivee Robot, which consistently sanitizes the clinic using V-Stop air mist which kills 99.99 percent of the virus and bacteria. We have a UV BOT which works every night to sterilize the whole facility in preparation for next-day operations,” Aivee said.
“Our staff wears the proper personal protective equipment such as body suits, masks and face shields. They also undergo COVID-19 rapid testing every one to two weeks to ensure the safety of their coworkers and our patients,” she added.
During the live stream event, the Teos accepted their awards with a speech given from the comfort of their home. “It’s such a privilege to be receiving these awards during this time of the pandemic, where the aesthetic and dermatology industry has been greatly affected,” Dr. Aivee said. “We would like to thank everybody, especially our patients for their trust in the Aivee Clinic these past ten years, our doctors who have been working so hard with us, and of course, to Merz who we’ve been working with for the past many years. Ulthera has really been the staple treatment in the Aivee Clinic.”
