Living in the time of a pandemic entails observing a lot of safety precautions, and that is what talk show host Bianca Gonzalez is practicing to the hilt.

Gonzalez talked about how she keeps herself and her family protected from the novel coronavirus, as shown in her latest YouTube vlog on Oct. 3, where she shared her five tips.

Gonzalez’s first tip is to make sure you have complete protective gear before leaving the house. To demonstrate this, she wore her face mask and face shield before going to the grocery.

She said bringing a sling bag helps her while inside the grocery as she doesn’t have to hold it and it can just hang on her.

“I prefer that it has pockets outside so I can put everything that I always need outside without having to put my hand inside the bag all the time,” she explained, also taking note that she always has her wipes, sanitizer spray and glove while doing her grocery shopping.

Her second tip is to not let your guard down once inside the grocery. She wipes the handle of her cart with a sanitary wet wipe and makes sure she has a glove on one hand for holding the groceries.

Another important tip she shared is to not touch your phone while in the grocery.

“We always touch our phone, then touch our face and so on. So if you don’t have to touch it, don’t,” she said.

Her third tip is maximizing your grocery runs by planning your other errands around it. Since she hardly goes out, Gonzalez makes sure that when she does, she also run other errands. In her vlog, right after doing the grocery, she went to a pharmacy to buy some medicine and also went to a bookstore to buy supplies.

Her fourth tip: clean up by taking a bath as soon as you get home. After taking a bath, it’s the grocery items’ turn to get cleaned.

“Wash up and wipe down. Everything that we buy from the outside like groceries or even from delivery na mga boxes, we have to wipe everything down with sanitizers or disinfectant. Pati ‘yung mga gulay at prutas (Even vegetables and fruits), we wash it with water dito sa (here in the) garage. Anything that comes in the house dapat either nalinis nahugasan or na-sanitize na,” she said. (Anything that comes in the house should either have been cleaned, washed or sanitized.)

Gonzalez’s final tip is to protect yourself daily from the inside as well by keeping your immunity strong.

“So for us, that is eating healthy and drinking vitamins daily. We make sure to do that talaga (really),” Gonzalez said. “Thankfully, our kids also eat well.” JB
