Kapuso actress Carla Abellana was deeply moved upon seeing the plight of abandoned dogs and cats in an island in Bulacan, prompting her to call on the public to help save them.
Abellana voiced out her concern and shared a series of photos of the animals in the island on her Instagram page, Oct. 30.
“Dozens of dogs and cats abandoned by displaced residents as construction of future Bulacan airport looms,” said a poster she included in the series of photos. “Construction of the new Manila Airport in Bulacan is about to begin but the dogs and cats once owned by people living in the island of [Taliptip] are still stranded in the island.”
In response to that, she reiterated the animals’ condition: “DOZENS OF ANIMALS ABANDONED IN ISLA TALIPTIP IN BULACAN ‼️‼️‼️”
“It is simply expected of man when he develops the world he lives in, he must do it to benefit the animals, too, not ignore and, without-a-care, abandon them. After all, man has made use, mostly exploited, the animals to his favor,” she explained.

Abellana was dismayed that the cats and dogs were apparently made to fend for themselves after their owners abandoned them.
“What a devastating ending, hopefully not, for the dogs and cats of Isla Taliptip that progress is bringing into Bulakan, Bulacan. The abandoned cats and dogs, @akfanimalrescue thinks numbering into a hundred, were left behind when the compensated families in the island were relocated,” she said. “Once again, the animals are in the receiving end of progress. It shouldn’t be so.”
Abellana has been a known advocate of animal rights and often shares in her social media updates on various animal welfare activities. JB
