Stylist to the stars Kimi Yap-Sy is herself one of Manila’s most stylish women. Many will probably remember her dreamy wedding, where she wore Michael Cinco couture, two years ago, and her equally sumptuous ting hun (engagement party) before that, dressed in a diaphanous tulle Marchesa.

Now Yap-Sy is a new mom, who gave birth to son Colin during the quarantine. “After becoming a mom, I now prioritize comfort when it comes to dressing,” the stylist of Kathryn Bernardo, Kris Aquino and Erich Gonzales tells Lifestyle. “It’s about striking that balance between comfort and style.”

With a newborn and locked down at home, she favors silky loungewear, like floor-length robes, midi dresses and co-ords, “because they are comfortable yet stylish. If I’m feeling a little extra on a particular day, I like to wear fun slip-ons, as well, which you can wear anywhere, even at home!”

A fashionista at heart, Yap-Sy says accessorizing is key, even when wearing loungewear at home. “Accessories have been my favorite fashion pieces while staying at home,” she adds. “I like to invest in timeless pieces, like watches and jewelry that you can use and wear even after the pandemic.”

She’s also meticulous about her skin care. La Mer is a staple in her daily regimen.

Yap-Sy is clearly enjoying her days of motherhood, but she is also dreaming of the day when she can once again travel.

“It’s super fun to dress up when traveling and I definitely miss it!” she says. “My favorite travel destinations are South Africa, London and Paris. When travel restrictions are eased, I want to explore Iceland, other parts of Europe as well such as Monaco and Greece, particularly Santorini.”

But now that those are not options, she says it’s still important to look and feel good even when you’re just at home.

“When you feel good about how you look, it sets the tone and mood of your day.”
