Not for being choosy but Megastar Sharon Cuneta has turned down some lucrative endorsement offers.

Cuneta articulated the reasons why she put a thumbs down on some endorsements in a recent YouTube vlog last Dec. 30 for the Sharon Cuneta Show.

“Everybody knows that throughout the 42 years I have been in show business, siguro kung lahat ng offers para sa endorsements sa akin ay tinanggap ko, malamang doble ang yaman ko ngayon. Kaya lang ang dami kong tinurn down,” she stated in the video.

(Everybody knows that throughout the 42 years I have been in show business, maybe if I accepted all offers for endorsements, I would probably be twice as rich today. But I have turned down so many.)

“Alam ng buong advertising agencies ito at advertising world, ng lahat sa kanila na ‘pag ayaw ko talaga kahit napakalaki ng offer, hindi ko talaga tinatanggap kasi ayaw kong mapahiya sa inyo,” she explained. “I’m giving you my word, I’ve earned your trust the hard way tapos biglang mapapalpak ako.”

(All advertising agencies and the whole advertising world know this, all of them know that when I don’t like [the product], no matter how big the offer is, I really will turn it down because I don’t want to get embarrassed. I’m giving you my word, I’ve earned your trust the hard way then suddenly I will look bad.)

With that, Cuneta carefully chooses what to endorse.

“So, maingat na maingat ako du’n dahil hindi ko mababayaran ‘pag nasira iyong pangalan ko at iyong tiwala n’yo sa akin,” she said.

(So, I am very careful with that because I cannot pay back [what is lost] when my name is ruined and your trust in me is broken.)

Cuneta has been slowing down on showbiz projects, announcing last October that she was “semi-retired” after four decades in entertainment. NVG
