For about a year now, Sarah Geronimo has been spouse to Matteo Guidicelli, and the popstar feels marriage is both rewarding and challenging.

Geronimo articulated her thoughts about marriage in a rare interview with Phoemela Baranda for Viva’s “Anong Ganap,” an online show, on Sunday, Feb. 14.

“The marriage itself is a blessing, na opportunity to spend the rest of your life with your loved one. Iyong napili mo talaga na makasama sa buhay, partner in life,” she said when queried about what she has learned about marriage.

(The marriage itself is a blessing, an opportunity to spend the rest of your life with your loved one. The one that you chose to be with you in life.)

“It’s rewarding na (and) challenging,” she noted.

Geronimo admitted that being married is no walk in the park.

“(It’s) challenging because siyempre sa situation ko po parang ito na iyong big leap ko papunta ng adulting. Parang medyo, sinasabi ko nga lagi na, na-expedite,” she said.

(It’s challenging because of my situation, this is a big leap for me to be an adult. I always say that [my adulting] was expedited.)

She also admitted that she is at the happiest stage in her life.

“Rewarding siya dahil iyon nga kasama mo iyong mahal mo sa buhay, tapos you have the freedom,” she explained. “You get to choose and decide for yourself, not just for yourself pero ngayon dahil may asawa ka na, for the both of you. You become one.”

(It’s rewarding because you are together with your loved one, then you have freedom. You get to choose and decide for yourself, not just for yourself but now that you have a spouse, (your decision is) for the both of you.)

Guidicelli and Geronimo were secretly married in a Christian wedding in Taguig on Feb. 20 last year. They admitted that they were in a relationship in 2014. NVG
